Air-Braked Boat Trailer
Any boat and trailer combination used on the public highway over 3500kg gross weight must be fitted with two lined air brakes to comply with the law.
Also your proposed towing vehicle must be able to tow the gross weight of the trailer and must be kitted out with the air supply and controls to operate the trailer air brakes. It costs around £3000 to have a Landrover converted in this way.
All our heavy duty yacht trailers comply with the relevant regulations for trailers of this type, i.e. self adjusting brakes, load sensing, and ABS.
The six wheel trailer above is designed to carry a motor cruiser. Often an A-frame yard trolley might be an option for heavier boats with the boat being moved around a boat yard and occasionally transported on the road on a low loader provided by a commercial hauler.
