Bilge Keel Yachts are carried on bilge guides which can be adjustable for width and can incorporate keel stops. A bow snubber is also fitted and this can be made adjustable both fore and aft and in height.
For triple keel boats there is the addition of a centre keel support.
Yachts with bilge keel widths up to about 5'6" the keels will be about 12" above the road. For boats with keels up to about 6'2" wide, this dimension increases to 15". Some yachts have particularly wide keels, such as the Westerly Centuar, and with these the keel guides are mounted above the wheels with the mudguards and keel guide being rolled into one. In this instance low profile tyres are available. Such a trailer is depicted below.
The Immersion Kit is useful if you plan to immerse the trailer to launch and recover the boat.
The kit consists of a flushing system which allows all the brake drums to be flushed out from a single ½" hose connection.
To be effective this flushing must be done immediately after immersion before the salt dries on the brake parts.
We recommend that the trailer is rocked back and forth a couple of feet while the flushing is taking place to ensure the fresh water is distributed around the brake mechanism.
Also included is a system of brake transmission cables which eliminate the usual bowden cables which can cause problems if they become sticky or seize up.
